About Me

When this blog began, I was planning a move to Austin, TX and experiencing being an Austin transplant. Now, I’m almost a year into my life as an Austinite, and things look pretty different from when they began. Goals have changed, faces have changed, and people have changed.

I moved to this city to be a musician, looking to start a band with my friend and roommate Adam Anglin. That band became a reality, and we call it Brothers O’Hair. However, Adam is prepping a move to Denver to marry the love of his life, which effectively ends the band. This doesn’t end my career in music; it just challenges me to create my own musical identity apart from Adam. More on this to come.

I did not move to Austin to be a part of a church plant, but I quickly got involved with Austin Bible Fellowship. I “stacked my stone” at Austin Bible last October, and I’ve been involved playing a lot of guitar on Sunday mornings and providing some occasional vocals. However, at the beginning of May, I took over as the lead worshipper at Austin Bible. It’s not something I had planned to do, but it’s certainly an opportunity that God provided and encouraged.

I’ve spent most of my time in Austin working my way up the ladder at Sam’s Club (you can take the boy out of Arkansas, but you can’t take the Arkansas out of the boy). I started out answering the phones, and I ended up a marketing rep doing work with large businesses in the area. However, with a job at Austin Bible taking up a decent amount of time, full-time work at Sam’s was no longer viable, so I snagged a part-time job at the Apple Store.

Nonetheless, I’ve made a new life for myself here in Austin. I’ve had to find new friends, new hobbies, new favorite restaurants, and all sorts of other new things. It’s been a crazy year so far, but this year isn’t over. Not to mention, I’m not stopping at a year. So, I hope you continue to join me on this journey.
